Our client is a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality frozen fruits and vegetables, fruit juice concentrates, and other related ingredients packaged for the Food Service, Retail and Export market. They have two cold storage and distribution centers located in the main commercial hubs of Firgrove (Head Office) and Johannesburg. From there they are able to distribute their products across Southern Africa.
Job brief

Due to their growth, they are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Key Account Manager based at their Head Office to maintain their key customers, grow their customer base and sales revenue in all regions.


  • Maintain and increase sales of the company’s products to the existing customer base
  • Assess local market conditions and identify current and prospective sales opportunities and create new business
  • Create sales budget for regional customers and monitor turnover against it on a monthly basis
  • Achieving weekly, monthly and annual KPIs
  • Present strategic planning to improve client results
  • Meet margin targets
  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Collaborating with the sales team to maximize profit by up-sell and cross-sell potential within existing customers
  • Monitoring market trends and providing regular feedback including on competitors
  • Acting as the main point of contact between key clients and internal teams
  • Compiling reports on account progress, goals and forecasts
  • Meeting all client needs and deliverables according to proposed timelines
  • Visits customer and follow up on leads
  • Demonstrate and present products, and attend to trade exhibitions
  • Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws
  • Network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company
  • Reports to General Manager


  • At least 4 years of proven experience as Key Account manager in the food service and/or retail industry
  • Network of contacts within the purchasing departments of the main players in the Food Service and Retail
  • Have proven strong track record of success within account management
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions
  • Highly goal oriented, assertive and a hands-on problem solver
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Analyse and draw inference from data
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Own vehicle
  • Willing to travel within different regions
